Classic Daiquiri Cocktail | Simple Elegance
The daiquiri cocktail recipe is so easy to make; it only has three ingredients. It is a delightfully delicious cocktail: smooth, simple, elegant. Try it. I know you will like it.
When you think about a daiquiri cocktail, your mind doesn’t automatically go to this cocktail. Your mind goes to a strawberry daiquiri.
Am I right? I am! You bet your sweet bippy I am.
Why do I prefer this daiquiri to the ones with fruit in it?
It tastes purer. Do I love daiquiris with fruit in them, like the blueberry daiquiri? Yes, I do! But in fruit daiquiris you taste the fruit and the sweet and sour mix, not so much the rum. Sometimes, I like to taste more rum.
Can I order a classic daiquiri in a restaurant?
Yes. Since it only has three ingredients and most restaurants have those ingredients, you should be safe to order it. The daiquiri is more popular now because in 2016, it was #4 of the top 5 most popular cocktails of the year. So, more people know about it. Helpful tips
- Always squeeze your own fresh lime juice; don’t use bottled lime juice if you can help it
- Make your own simple syrup – 1 cup of sugar to 1 cup of water and boil for 5 minutes
- You can use white rum instead of gold but I prefer the gold as it gives the cocktail a nice glowy look
How to make a classic daiquiri cocktail
Pre-step
Fill a cocktail shaker half way with ice and slice a few thin lime wheels for garnish. After measuring each ingredient below, pour it into the shaker.
Step one
Gather the ingredients: rum, limes and simple syrup. That is it. Isn’t that easy? Wait till you see how it’s mixed.
Step two
Measure 4 ounces of gold rum.
Step three
Measure 2 ounces of lime juice.
Step four
Measure 1 ounce of simple syrup.
Step five
Cap the shaker and shake it for 30 seconds. Strain the liquid into your martini glasses and take the lime wheels and place them in the drink. Sometimes they float, other times they sink a little. It depends on how thinly you slice them.
Isn’t it a pretty drink? Let’s look at the daiquiri cocktail from a vertical view.
All that is left to do is pick up the glass and sip that classic daiquiri!
I hope you enjoyed this recipe. Just writing about it, makes me want to make it again and sip it.

Sounds like a great recipe! I don’t think I knew you could just get a plain daiquiri. I always thought of strawberry as well. Good information to know!
Christine, You have to try it! It’s really delicious and simple!
This looks excellent and since it IS my birthday weekend, I think I should try making this… NOW!
Happy Birthday! I love that you have a birthday weekend! (I’ve convinced my hubby that I have a birthday week!) It is a delish cocktail!

Tina! They are so good, you may never go back to strawberry daiquiris!!
I’ve never heard of plain dequiris Elaine. I’m totally with you girl on the booze part.. more rum the better. It’s Saturday and I have both rum and lime, so this is going down tonight, Cheers!
Maria! Awesome! Let me know how it came out!
I’ve never had a plain daiquiri, but I want to now.

Thank you Nancy! Cheers!
Love your photos, looks so fresh and tempting. Will the use of light or gold rum impact the flavor?
Alina. The two different rums taste so close to each other that I don’t think you would notice it. White rum isn’t as aged as golden or dark.
I never had a daiquiri in my life, I was wondering what it was made of but always forgot to search for it, That looks truly delicious and I love cocktails made with rum, Thanks for another awesome cocktail recipe Lainey, can’t wait for Happy Hour to make me one, cheers!
Thanks so much Patty! 🙂
