The flavor of this cocktail is a favorite at parties, especially during the holiday season. Doesn’t it just scream “Holiday Cocktail”?
My sister-in-law adores this drink. Hubby and I threw a party for me for my 60th birthday, and this was the cocktail she requested.
Sugar cookie martini funny story
Hubby doesn’t like cream-based cocktails for a few different reasons:
- He is lactose intolerant.
- He doesn’t like decadent cocktails.
Well, he loves this one.
I almost always save some of the cocktails I blog about for Christopher to sample. With this one, he smacked his lips and said, “Mmmmm. This is so good. I could down it.”
I had to remind him that it had cream in it. He just looked at me and took another sip before handing it to me.

Tips
- I use light cream in this cocktail, and you can substitute half & half or whole milk, but I wouldn’t use heavy cream; that would make it a little too decadent.
- You can switch out the Baileys Irish cream with RumChata. Both are good choices.
- If you don’t have Baileys but any other Irish cream liqueur is okay to use too.
- If you don’t have Amaretto, use any other almond-flavored liqueur.
- If you can’t find sugar cookies in the store or don’t want to make your own, use your favorite Christmas cookies or a butter cookie for the garnish around the rim of the glasses.
- Here’s how to garnish the glasses: Crush a cookie into crumbs with a mortar and pestle or the back of a spoon. Sprinkle crumbs on a flat plate. Next, take your finger and wet it with simple syrup. Swipe your finger around the rim of the glasses and dip the glasses into the cookie crumbs. Make sure the rims are fully coated and shake away any excess.
- Optional: For this post, I also garnished the cocktail with tiny edible gold hearts; they made it easier to photograph and even prettier to look at.
- Want to make a pitcher? Adjust the servings in the recipe card to how many people you want to serve.
How to make a sugar cookie martini
Pre-step
Garnish the glasses with crumbled sugar cookies. (See helpful tips.)
Get your cocktail shaker and fill it halfway with ice. Get your measuring glass and two martini glasses.
After measuring out the ingredients, add them to the shaker.
Step one
Gather the ingredients – Baileys Irish cream, vanilla vodka, Amaretto, and light cream.
Step two
Measure 4 ounces of vanilla vodka. (A)
Step three
Measure 4 ounces of Irish cream. (B)
Step four
Measure 2.5 ounces of Amaretto or almond-flavored liqueur. (C)
Step five
Measure 2 ounces of light cream. (D)
Step six
Cap the shaker and shake vigorously for ten seconds. Strain and divide the cocktail between the two glasses, carefully pouring the liquid so it doesn’t touch the garnished rims.
I sprinkle on some thin, small, gold, edible hearts.
See how the hearts focus the shot?
Let’s see the vertical view.
I hope you enjoyed this sugar cookie martini recipe as much as I enjoyed drinking it. 🙂

So sad your hubby can’t have cream, because this cocktail is delicious! We had all the ingredients and decided to give it a whirl… Excellent!
I’m so glad to hear that! And yes, I wish he could take cream or milk. But that means more for me! 😉 Thanks Marta.
