Easy Peanut Butter Balls
This chocolate covered easy peanut butter balls recipe is perfect for the Easter season. Or for any season. They are so delicious, light and fluffy and better than store bought, because homemade is always better.
One of the things I love about the Easter season is the peanut butter eggs. I know that they are just glorified peanut butter cups, but there is something about the shape that makes them different and oh-so-fun to eat!
I always mold these chocolate covered easy peanut butter balls in the shape you see in the photo. And I can’t be bothered trying to replicate the shape of the peanut butter eggs they sell in the store. I figure there is no need. They are just going to be scarfed down by everyone and nobody cares about the shape.

Helpful tips
- Take the butter out an hour before you start the recipe.
- Most recipes use double the sugar than I use so it makes for a wetter batter.
- Because it’s wetter, you can’t use your hands to shape the batter. Instead, use a serving spoon and a tablespoon to form the balls.
- If you don’t have a double boiler, add a few inches of water to a medium saucepan and place a glass bowl over the pan, making sure the bowl doesn’t touch the water. Add the chocolate chips and butter and stir until melted.
How to make easy peanut butter balls
Pre-step
Get out a stand mixer and cover a jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
Step one
Gather the ingredients – peanut butter, confectioner’s sugar and butter.
Step two
In the mixer, add butter, peanut butter and confectioner’s sugar. Mix until creamy.
Step three
Use a serving spoon and a tablespoon to form the peanut butter balls. Place each ball on the paper.
Step three
Place the pan in the freezer for a half hour.
Step four
Right before the half hour is up, get the chocolate chips and butter.
Step five
If you don’t have a double boiler, put a few inches of water in a medium sauce pan and place a glass bowl on the pan.
Turn the heat on medium and let it come to a simmer. Add 1/2 cup chocolate chips in the bowl along with 1 tablespoon of butter.
Stand there and stir around the chocolate as it melts.
Step six
Take the peanut butter balls out of the freezer. Place a few of the balls in the chocolate and with a fork, roll the balls around in the chocolate until they are covered and place each ball back on the jelly roll pan.

If only I could reach in and grab one of these. They looks awesome. I suppose I’ll just have to make them myself. It’s not going to be a hardship!
Hehe Jacqueline!
I would probably just eat the whole batch selfishly! But seriously, how can something so delicious need just 5 ingredients????? Brilliant!
Thanks Tina!
You had me at peanut butter. Then you had me at chocolate. I have got to make these and give 1/2 away so I don’t eat them all myself.
I’m with you on that Ellen. I give away half and then freeze what is left and pretend to forget about them.
Love simple, sweet treats like these. And who doesn’t love chocolate and peanut butter together?!
Lisa, believe it or not, my 3 nephews don’t like the combination. How can they be related to me?
In Ohio, we call these Buckeyes, and they’re a huge favorite! It’s impossible to eat just one. It’s so much better to make your own candy. Some of the stuff we ate as kids is way too sweet now.
Chocolate and peanut butter are always a favorite in my house. This recipe is similar to one my sister-in-laws mother used to make. Delicious. I need to make some of these for my kids for Easter.
I want like 10 of those. NO JOKE. Balls in my mouth, NOW!! hahaha!
Hehe GiGi! They are so good. I usually give away half so I won’t eat them all, then freeze the rest. And hopefully take them out, one at a time.
Yum yum So delicious ? I would also freeze most of them, it’s too dangerous for my hips to keep a fresh batch of these ??
Don’t I know it Patty!
I could pop these in my mouth, one after the other!
Sadly for my thighs, I can too!
