This cherry camembert grilled cheese sandwich is so delicious that it will soon become your family favorite!
I’m so in love with these sandwiches! I wait all year for cherry season to come around so I can make this sandwich. It is not the same, I repeat, it is certainly not the same as having frozen cherries in place of these fresh cherries nestled snugly between two cheese-slathered pieces of bread. But, if cherry season is over, it will do in a pinch.
I love grilled sandwiches. They remind me of my grandmother.
Dunk a Dunk a Doodle
Bena used to make me grilled cheese and either chicken noodle soup or chicken and dumpling soup. One of my greatest joys was dipping the grilled cheese (or tuna fish sandwich) in the soup and then taking a huge bite.
I have still been known to dip my sandwich in the soup. But not this cherry camembert grilled cheese sandwich. Oh no, not this one.
Mainly, because I want the flavors to be pure, not soaked in soup, so I can enjoy every single morsel!
It is so delicious!
Also, do you dunk your sandwiches in soup? And if so, which sandwich and which soup? Leave me a comment to let me know because I love talking about food and the enjoyment of it. I know, it is certainly a big surprise.
On to the Cherry Camembert Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe
You can either use my cherry sauce, as I did. Certainly, you can use fresh cherries!! Okay, and if you must, thawed frozen cherries.
See how tasty the sauce looks? It is soooooo good. I also have some bread and camembert cheese.
Let’s get started.
I drag my sauté pan on the stove and hence turn the heat on medium.
I slice four pieces of bread off the artisan loaf I bought and finally spread hunks of camembert cheese on the insides of each slice.
Also, I slather some butter on the outsides of two slices and place them in the sauté pan. I dollop some cherry sauce on the cheese and place the other cheese-covered bread on top. Most noteworthy, I don’t butter those second top pieces until the bottom slices of bread toast up.
I help the grilling process even more by pressing down on the top slices a few times with a spatula.
Toasty Bread and the Finished Product
Time to butter the bread and also flip the sandwich. I push down a few times with the spatula again and wait for that side of the cherry camembert grilled cheese sandwich to toast up as a result.
Also I cut the sandwiches and plate them.
Cheesy cherry goodness!
Even more, here’s a close up of the cherry camembert grilled cheese sandwich!
Yum. Yum. Yummy!
