Do you prefer orange juice or grapefruit juice in your sea breeze cocktail?
Me, I prefer grapefruit juice!
Lainey’s OJ-aversion story
A long time ago, when I was still too young to drink legally, I didn’t let any alcohol slither past these lips.
Me: *blinks innocently*
My faithful blog readers: *raise eyebrows*
Okay! OKAY! I told a falsehood. Yes, I drank alcohol when I was under age. My sister Nancy, my friend Michelle and I used to go to another friend’s house. This friend, too, was under age and lived with her sister.
I used to think that was so cool. She was literally on her own. I didn’t realize at the time that it must not have been a good thing in her eyes. She told me once that her parents threw her out of the house. Thankfully, she had her sister to fall back on. I never thought about what she must have been feeling.
That one night, when we were at this friend’s house, we decided to make screwdrivers. Many, many screwdrivers. When it was time for us to go home, Michelle and I were stumbling down the street. It was quite comical really as we tried to walk in the middle of the street but staggered from one side to the the other, just barely missing the curb as we careened forward, lurching left and right.
My sister Nancy, who was well known for holding her liquor, walked in front with a slight waver in her step.
I got sick that evening. So, for the longest time, I didn’t want orange juice mixed with any alcohol.
You see, OJ always reminded me of that fateful night. That is why, today, I prefer grapefruit juice in this lovely summery sea breeze cocktail recipe.

How to make a sea breeze cocktail
We have cranberry juice, grapefruit juice and Grey Goose vodka.
That’s it. Easy peasy.
You don’t have to use a cocktail shaker, but I prefer to.
Soooo, I fill the shaker halfway with ice.
I add 2 ounces of vodka, 1.5 ounces of cranberry juice and 1.5 ounces of grapefruit juice.
I cap the shaker and shake the sea breeze cocktail 20 times. Then, I grab my faithful rocks glass and empty the whole shaker in the glass.
The last thing I do is add a small sliver of grapefruit. I cut the sliver into two pieces.
And now for the vertical photo of this delicious drink.
Doesn’t that sea breeze cocktail look refreshing??
I hope you enjoyed this recipe!
