Grasshopper Cocktail Recipe

This grasshopper cocktail is a smooth, creamy classic with refreshing mint and subtle chocolate flavor. Its signature green color and dessert-like taste make it perfect as an after-dinner drink or a festive cocktail any time of year.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces creme de menthe
  • 2 ounces white creme de cacao
  • 2 ounces heavy cream

Instructions

  • Fill a cocktail shaker 1/2 full with ice.
  • Add creme de menthe, creme de cacao and light cream.
    2 ounces creme de menthe, 2 ounces white creme de cacao, 2 ounces heavy cream
  • Cap shaker and shake for 10 seconds. Strain and divide the liquid between the two glasses.
  • Sip, smile, and enjoy.

Notes

Helpful tips

  • I use light cream, but heavy cream, half-and-half, or even milk will work. Choose based on how rich you want the cocktail to be.
  • Crème de menthe comes in both green and clear. Use the green version for the classic grasshopper color.
  • Crème de cacao is available in clear or dark varieties. Stick with clear so the drink stays bright green.
  • I like using contrasting glassware to show off cocktails. For this drink, a coupe or martini glass works beautifully.
  • This cocktail doesn’t need a garnish, but feel free to add one if you’d like.
