Ingredients

  • 4 ounces vodka
  • 7 ounces orange juice
  • 1 ounce Galliano liqueur (divided 1/2 ounce each)

Garnish

Instructions

  • Fill cocktail shaker halfway with ice, get a measuring glass, cocktail spoon, and two collins glasses.
  • Add vodka, and orange juice to the shaker.
4 ounces vodka, 7 ounces orange juice
  • Add fresh ice to the glasses and cap the shaker and shake for 10 seconds. Pour, strain, and divide the liquid between the two glasses. Add more ice to force the liquid closer to the top of the glass (leave a half inch from the liquid to the top)
  • Take the cocktail spoon, place it against the inside of the glass with the back of the spoon facing up. Pour 1/2 ounce of Galliano slowly over the spoon and into the glass. Measure out another 1/2 ounce and repeat with the second drink.
    1 ounce Galliano liqueur
  • Add a cherry and 1/2 of an orange wheel to each glass. (I like to put the orange half on the rim.)
2 maraschino cherries, 1 orange wheel
  • Sip
  • Smile
  • Enjoy

Notes

Helpful tips
  • You don't have to use a cocktail shaker to make this cocktail, but I recommend it because shaking the ingredients always assures a blended drink.
  • If you choose to build the cocktail in each glass, make sure to stir briskly with a cocktail spoon.
  • I like this cocktail in a tall thin glass like a Collins glass, but you could also use a double old fashioned glass or a highball glass.
  • I use dehydrated orange wheels as garnish, but you can use fresh orange wheels instead.
  • Although I'm using a good vodka like Grey Goose, you can substitute for a less expensive brand because this cocktail has more juice than alcohol, so you won't really taste the difference.
  • After you pour the contents of the shaker into the glasses, you are going to float the Galliano on top of the drink, after you pour.
