I have made this cocktail in two different ways: with and without lemon juice. When I want a light and refreshing drink, I omit lemon juice. If I want a full-bodied yet refreshing cocktail, I add lemon juice. Try it without lemon juice as I've written in this recipe, and if after sipping the cocktail and you find it too 'light', add one ounce of fresh lemon juice to each cocktail.
I like different garnishes for this cocktail. Thin lemon slices are a fun addition and herbs like fresh mint or sage gives it a pop of color. You can also add a rosemary sprig, fresh thyme, basil, lemon peels, and anything else appropriate.
I use club soda for this cocktail, but you can use soda or sparkling water.
If you can't find Prosecco in your local liquor store, you can replace it with sparkling white wine.
I've always made lemon spritzes in either a tulip-shaped glass and/or a double old-fashioned glass, but you can use wine glasses or Collins glasses.
Many brands make this Italian lemon liqueur, so use what you have or whichever brand you prefer.
I would not use crema di limoncello as it changes the cocktail makeup.
