Ingredients

  • 3 ounces cherry jello powder (you don't need to do these exact flavors - you can use one color or flavor or all four)
  • 3 ounces lime jello powder
  • 3 ounces orange jello powder
  • 3 ounces lemon jello powder
  • 4 cups boiling water (divided - one cup per flavor)
  • 2 cups cold water (divided - 1/2 cup per flavor)
  • 2 cups vodka (divided - 1/2 cup per flavor)

Instructions

  • 15 minutes before starting the recipe, put cold water in a large bowl and add ice cubes so it gets as cold as possible).
    2 cups cold water
  • Boil water.
    4 cups boiling water
  • While the water is boiling, empty each jello flavor powder into separate glass bowls.
3 ounces cherry jello powder, 3 ounces lime jello powder, 3 ounces orange jello powder, 3 ounces lemon jello powder
  • Pour 1 cup of water to each glass bowl. Take a whisk or large tablespoon and stir until the jello powder has melted.
  • Add a 1/2 cup vodka and a 1/2 cup of cold water to each bowl. Stir the jello mixture until combined.
2 cups vodka, 2 cups cold water
  • Uncap each syringe. Place tip of the syringe in one of the jello bowls and pull the plunger up until you have 2 ounces of the liquid in it. Place the cap securely on the syringe and place it with the plunger sticking up in a box or container so it stays vertical. See notes for more tips about that.
  • Repeat until all the syringes have been used - you will most likely have jello left over.
  • Place the box or container in the fridge for at least 4 hours.
  • Serve
  • Smile
  • Enjoy

Helpful tips

  • I like to serve a variety of colors and flavors but you can make as many or as few as you prefer.
  • Jello shot syringes are most successful with clear alcohol like vodka, white rum, or tequila blanco.
  • If you don't store your vodka in the freezer, the night before you make these shots, measure out as much as you need for the recipe and place it in the freezer. This helps the gelatin set faster.
  • I bought these 2-ounce syringes for this recipe, which also come in 1.5 ounces. And just a warning: these syringes are HUGE, but they still just hold 2 ounces.
  • If you don't buy the ones I linked, do yourself a favor and make sure the syringes are BPA-free.
  • Wash the syringes before you use them.
  • If you want to go the extra mile, serve the syringes in a bucket of ice to keep the jello cold and solid.
  • You are going to need to chill these unique jello shots in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, which means you're going to need a container to place them in that will fit in the fridge. It would be best to have the syringes vertical so they gel that way. I used a light cardboard box (for wine glasses) that fit the fridge and fit the syringes.
  • The cleanest, easiest way to fill syringes is to make them work for you. After removing the cap and with the plunger completely inserted, place the tip in a bowl of jello, carefully draw out the plunger to fill the shaft with liquid, place the cap back on the syringe, and set it standing up, tip-down, in the container that will hold them all to chill in the fridge. Remember, they will be very tall with the plungers extended!
