Notes

Helpful tips
  • When I make sweet and sour mix for my cocktails, I usually use a 1:2 ratio. So 1 part sweet to 2 parts sour. The reason I do this is that I prefer my cocktails more sour than sweet.
  • Try the recipe first with my 1:2 ratio before you start adding more simple syrup. You might be surprised to learn that you don't need cocktails to be as sweet as they are in bars and restaurants. If you don't find it sweet enough, add simple syrup one teaspoon at a time until it's to your liking.
  • There are many sour apple liqueurs out there. I'm not loyal to any particular one, so use whichever brand you fancy.
  • Make your own simple syrup as it is very easy. Here's how:
    • In a saucepan, add 1 cup white sugar and 1 cup water. Bring to a boil on medium heat, lower to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes. Let cool before you add to any cocktail.
