Thai Peanut Sauce

This tasty Thai peanut sauce recipe is soooo good. I want to spoon this delectable stuff into my mouth without the chicken.

Don’t eat it all in one sitting

I have a love relationship with peanut sauce. Not a love/hate relationship, even though I could eat a whole bowl of the stuff and that I should hate.

Seriously, I could eat it all.

Would I get sick of it before I got to the bottom of the bowl? No. I really don’t think so. I’d love to try, but I’m thinking that would be a bad idea for my thighs.

And even though I could easily eat the whole bowl, I imagine Christopher standing next to the bare chicken satay and saying, “Doesn’t chicken satay come with peanut sauce?”

And if I opened my my mouth to answer him, I’m afraid I’d have sauce covered teeth.

Helpful tips

  • I’m assuming you will make chicken satay when you make this sauce. So that means you will make the marinade at the same time.
  • I mention this because you are going to use 1/4 cup of the marinade in this sauce.
  • If you reheat this sauce, do NOT heat it in a microwave, instead heat it on the stove on medium low heat.

Gather the ingredients – peanut butter, marinade, chili powder, curry powder, garlic paste and ginger paste.

Peanut butter, marinade, chili powder, turmeric, garlic and ginger paste

Step two

In a saucepan, add peanut butter, marinade, coconut milk, garlic paste and ginger paste and heat it on medium heat.

Stand there and stir with a spatula until it is creamy.

Time to transfer it to a cute little bowl.

Yum.

Can’t you just picture picking up a spoonful and shoving it into your mouth?

Would you just look at that chicken satay behind it, and the Thai cucumber salad? Christopher and I are going to eat like royalty!

This Thai peanut sauce will not disappoint and I hope you enjoyed this recipe.

Christopher thinks it’s better than the peanut sauce you get in restaurants.

One note of caution: do NOT reheat this sauce in the microwave. Heat it on the stove.

The end.

  3. I did a chicken satay with peanut sauce about a month ago and I agree — peanut sauce is something I could literally eat by the spoonful. In fact, I just looked for other things to put it on. Shrimp. Pork. Even stir fried veg.

  6. Having a satay peanut sauce on hand is a great staple, and your one looks great. Perfect with chicken, but yes, I could too just eat it by the spoonful.

  7. This looks absolutely fabulous! Thank you for sharing. One question though, was your natural peanut butter the sugar free variety?

    1. Yes! It is Tammy! In normal grocery stores, you can get Teddie brand that you stir, that doesn’t have sugar. I only buy sugar free now that I’m used to it.
