Ham, Egg and Cheese Croissant Sandwich
This ham, cheese and egg croissant sandwich is my favorite breakfast sandwich. So delicious and very satisfying.
To begin with, I could eat this breakfast sandwich every single darn week!
When I first had this sandwich, I was at a restaurant and I ordered the eggs sunny side up. I did NOT want them overcooked. So, I asked the waitress specifically not to let the cook, the chef, overcook the eggs. I liked them soft. You know? Runny.
They don’t listen
It was like I was speaking gibberish. Because when my ham, egg and cheese croissant sandwich arrived, I was sadly disappointed. The eggs were cooked hard. In contrast, yolks solid.
Hence, I wanted to scream, “What the heck is this? Do you call this sunny side up? DO YOU?”
Of course, along with the screaming, there would be some physical stuff going on, like me lifting the waitress up by lapels and shaking her like I was shaking a martini.
But I dutifully ate the over cooked thing because I knew it wasn’t her fault. (At least, I hoped it wasn’t.) I would have sent it back, but I was hungry and didn’t want to wait any longer than I already had.
Even more, I ordered this breakfast sandwich a few more times. Hope springs eternal. But they always overcook the eggs, like they are totally incapable of putting a sunny side egg on a breakfast sandwich.
So, I basically make them at home and I don’t order them in restaurants any more.

How to make this breakfast sandwich
Pre-step
Get a sauté pan and small jelly roll pan.
Step one
Gather the ingredients – croissant, eggs, ham and muenster cheese.
Step two
Heat the sauté pan on medium and add two pieces of ham. Fry them until they are fried and set them aside.
Step three
Set your oven or toaster oven to broil.
Step four
Cut the croissant in half and place it on a small jelly roll pan. Add a piece of muenster cheese on the croissant and stick it in the oven.
Stand there and make sure the cheese is melted and the croissant is lightly toasted.
Step five
Meanwhile as the croissant is toasting, heat sauté pan on medium. Add a tablespoon of butter and once it melts, crack in two eggs.
Step six
The croissant should be done and the cheese melted, take it out of the oven and transfer to a plate.
Add two pieces of ham.
Step seven
Cook the eggs how you like them. I like them sunny-side up and runny.
Once the eggs are done, place the eggs on the ham. Also, I had to use a martini pick to croissant sandwich together for the photos!
I stuck my knife in the yolk to get it flowing.
So delicious.

Ingredients
- 2 pieces ham (uncured)
- 1 croissant
- 1 piece muenster cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 eggs
Instructions
- Heat a saute pan on medium and add 2 pieces of ham. Fry for a minute on each side.2 pieces ham
- Set oven or toaster oven to broil.
- Cut the croissant in half, place a piece of muenster on it, and broil for 1 – 2 minutes or until the croissant is toasted and the Muenster has melted1 croissant, 1 piece muenster cheese
- Add fried ham to croissant.
- Add butter to sauté pan and fry up two eggs, to your liking. I prefer sunny side up.1 tablespoon butter, 2 eggs
- Place the two eggs on the ham, close up the croissant, and secure it with a pick.
- Take a bite, smile, and enjoy.

Helpful tips
- The foundation of a great croissant sandwich lies in the quality of its components. Opt for a high-quality, buttery croissant that is fresh and flaky. Select premium ham slices, fresh eggs, and your favorite type of cheese that melts well.
- The egg can be prepared to your liking, but a slightly runny or freely runny yolk works best. But like I said, prepare the egg to your liking.
- Since I’m using ham in this recipe, I would hold off on the salt until you taste the sandwich because you can always add it, but you can’t subtract it. Freely add black pepper to taste.
- Choose a cheese that melts well and complements the flavors of the ham and egg. Good options include Muenster, Swiss, cheddar, mozzarella, Gruyère, or Havarti. Place the cheese on the bottom half of the croissant to melt slightly from the warmth of the freshly cooked egg and ham.
- Warm up the ham slices before adding them to the sandwich. This enhances the flavor and helps melt the cheese, creating a gooey, delicious layer. You can quickly pan-fry the ham.
- When assembling the sandwich, be gentle to maintain the integrity of the croissant. Layer the ingredients neatly to ensure every bite is balanced with ham, egg, and cheese flavors.
- Introduce a fresh element to cut through the richness of the sandwich. Add tomato slices, avocado, mayonnaise, bacon, honey mustard, dijon mustard, sprouts, slices of cucumber, and some fresh spinach.
- Croissant sandwiches are best enjoyed warm when the cheese is melted and the croissant is at its flakiest. Serve immediately after assembly for the best eating experience.
- Complement your croissant sandwich with fresh fruit, a light salad, or a hot cup of coffee to round out your meal.

Oh boy… I love my runny eggs too on a sandwich and they never make them right! What’s wrong with people? And runny eggs on a croissant is my favorite too. I usually make it with tomato instead of ham but I bet it tastes delicious with ham!
