These decadent Guinness truffles are so fudgy and satisfyingly delicious, that even though you’ll want more than one, you don’t have to eat it because it will satisfy your sweet tooth!

Or sip a cocktail at 11:00 a.m. because you have to check quality control?

Those days are when the job is tough. But I accept my plight, because it would be cruel of me to ask Christopher to sip a cocktail or bite into something just so I can photograph it.

I just do it myself, mostly.

Aren’t I nice not burdening Christopher?  🙂

Full disclosure: this is not my recipe.  When Christopher and I went on our Ireland trip, we toured the Guinness storehouse and they give out free recipe cards.  I grabbed them all in my hot little hands because I’m all for free and, oh yeah, the recipes looked awesome.

This truffle recipe was on one of the cards.  I also took a recipe card for a delish looking Guinness chocolate mousse.

How to make Guinness truffles

I’ve been making these truffles for a few years now and I have never been able to roll them in balls. I always fill little muffin cups with the truffle batter.

Pre-step

Get a medium saucepan, mini baking cups and a jelly roll pan.

Step one

I get a bottle of stout and one of the Guinness storehouse recipes. (A)

Step two

Measure 100 ml of Guinness and 400 ml of light cream (B)

Step three

Cut up the 60% cocoa bar, gather the chocolate chips and an orange. (C)

Step four

Add the cream and Guinness in the saucepan and turn the heat on medium. Bring to a slight boil.

Step five

Add the zest of one orange and the chocolate to the cream and stir until melted. (D)

Step six

Spoon the melted chocolate mixture into the baking cups.

You can sprinkle coconut flakes on as many chocolate truffles as you like.

Step seven

Place the pan in the refrigerator and to let the truffles set. It takes 1 – 2 hours.

I place the Guinness chocolate truffles on a few serving plates getting ready to serve them.

Mmmm. The flavor of orange in the chocolate is simply marvelous. Wait until you taste these delicious Guiness truffles.

Chocolate Guinness Truffles

These decadent Guinness truffles are so satisfying. Small enough that you don’t feel guilty eating one…..or two…….

Ingredients

  • 1 kg dark chocolate broken into smaller pieces for easy melting ( I used 36 ounces)
  • 400 ml cream 1.69 cups
  • 100 ml Guinness Stout
  • 1 zest orange
  • 3 tablespoons Shredded coconut for garnish

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, on medium heat, bring cream and Guinness to a light boil
  • Add chopped up chocolate and zest of orange
  • Stir until chocolate melted
  • Take pan off of the burner and let mixture cool
  • Either roll into balls or spoon into little muffin cups
  • If you roll them, place in coconut and roll them around until fully coated
  • If you use muffin cups, sprinkle coconut on as many as the truffles as you like. I keep some plain
  • Place in refrigerator for 1 – 2 hours to set the chocolate
  • Eat
  • Smile
  • Enjoy
