Chocolate Berry Overnight Oats

These chocolate berry overnight oats are delicious, filling and satisfying. There is very little work to them as you let them sit in the refrigerator overnight.

One of the things I love about this recipe is it takes around 5 minutes to put together before you let it rest overnight in the refrigerator.

The next morning you take it out and layer it with the berries. It’s so delicious, pretty and satisfying.

I love eating oatmeal in the morning and I usually alternate between this recipe and cooked oatmeal. What about you?

How to make chocolate berry overnight oats

Pre-step

Get a 2 cup ball jar.

Step one

Gather the ingredients – old fashioned rolled oats (don’t use instant), cocoa powder, protein powder (I use unflavored), yogurt and milk.

Here’s a fun fact, instead of yogurt, you can replace it with kefir. My friend Helen has a great post on how to make milk kefir.

Step two

Place the oats, protein powder and cocoa powder in the ball jar.

Step three

Add yogurt and milk.

Step four

Take a spoon and stir the ingredients together.

It’s okay that the ball jar will get messy. Don’t worry, you will transfer the overnight oats to another jar in the morning when you’re ready to layer the fruit in it.

Step five

Cap the jar and put it in the refrigerator overnight.

Fast forward around 12 hours.

Step six

Time to prepare the fruit.

Get out whatever fruit you’d like to use. I’m using raspberries, blueberries and strawberries.

Step seven

Wash and rinse the fruit well and get a clean Ball jar.

Step eight

Give the oats a stir.

Spoon half of the overnight oats into the clean jar and place half of the berries on top.

Step nine

Spoon the rest of the chocolate overnight oats on top of the berries.

Peek a boo, berries!

Step ten

Add the rest of the berries on top and sprinkle some nuts on top of that. (The nuts are optional.)

We are ready to eat, everyone.

  1. Can you believe I have never made overnight oats. Well I am Scottish and we make porridge with our oats in the morning. Wish I hadn’t read your story, now I will be peering at my oats.

I think the oddest combination was when I used to eat BBQ sauce on saltine crackers all the time- just because there were a lot of them in the house! Your dead bug story reminds me of the scene in Anne of Green Gables where a mouse got into the food and she didn’t tell anyone lol. This looks delicious btw- I love oats!
