Chatelaine Cocktail
The Chatelaine cocktail is a sophisticated and elegant drink that combines the delightful flavors of gin, elderberry liqueur, white wine, and pomegranate juice. This cocktail is perfect for those who appreciate a visually stunning and tantalizing drink. The fusion of fruity sweetness with a hint of tartness makes the Chatelaine an ideal choice for special occasions or as a chic addition to a cocktail party menu.
One of the things that I love about this cocktail is it’s so unique. The color is gorgeous, and the taste is just amazing. It is the perfect sipping cocktail, especially at a cocktail or dinner party.
I have made it for multiple people and they all agree with me. And to top it all off, my name is embedded in the cocktail name.
ChatELAINE! Hehe.

Why you will love this cocktail
- Pomegranate juice provides a unique and refreshing flavor. This makes it a delightful choice for those exploring beyond classic cocktail tastes. It also gives the drink its beautiful color.
- Pomegranate juice is known for its antioxidant properties. While it’s important to consume alcohol in moderation, adding pomegranate juice can be seen as a healthier twist than other cocktails.
- This cocktail is versatile and can be enjoyed year-round. Its fruity profile makes it suitable for summer gatherings, while the richness of pomegranate fits well with winter themes.
- The simplicity of the recipe makes it easy to prepare, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced cocktail maker. This means less time preparing drinks and more time enjoying the company of your guests.
Helpful tips
- What makes it a sipping cocktail is it has three different alcohols, so you don’t want to drink it too fast.
- I’ve seen this cocktail made with vodka instead of gin, but the combination of Elderberry liqueur and gin is wonderful. Check out my French gimlet.
- Whenever I serve a cocktail in a martini glass, I chill the cocktail glass in the freezer. I don’t do it here on the blog because it’s very difficult to photograph a chilled cocktail glass. But I recommend you do so, especially for a small cocktail party.
- The perfect garnish for this drink is adding pomegranate arils to the bottom of the glass before pouring out the cocktail.
- If you can’t find St Germain liqueur, any elderberry liqueur will do.
- Use a white wine like Sauvignon Blanc as you don’t want a sweet wine in the cocktail since pomegranate juice, and the elderberry liqueur are both on the sweet side.
